Youth Parliament


Delhi International Public School lifted the Pandit Motilal Nehru Parliamentary Shield having stood First in the 47th Youth Parliament Competition 2012 held at Balayogi Auditorium Parliament House.

Sh. Rajeev Shukla, Hon’ble Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning gave away the shield to the victorious team who had qualified after competing with 33 schools of Delhi.

Mrs. Madhu Kansal, Principal DIPS received the trophy from the Hon’ble Minister, who praised the performance and the efforts of the students.

The school also lifted the trophy for being the Best New Entrant in the competition. Eight students of the school namely Shivam Sharma, Srishti Bansal, Apoorva Gupta, Priyal Mittal, Anitta Jose, Nidhi Bhardwaj, Riya Jain and Shruti Gupta were awarded trophies for being the Best Speakers.

They followed the Parliamentary Norms and Procedures to conduct business of the house for a duration of 60 minutes.The Student Parliametarians Administered the Oath,read out the Message of Condolence, Introduced New Ministers, mentioned the Breach of Privilege,Laid Papers on the table of the house, Read out the Message from the Upper Chamber of the house, Accorded Welcome to the British Parliametary Delegation, Called Attention about Increase in Crimes Against Women,and moved a Private Members Resolution about the content on T.V channels.

The student panel raised issues regarding  Equal Distribution of Electricity, Banning the Use of Polythene, Safety of Indian Railways, Care of the widows of Banaras and the senior citizens of the country during the Quession Hour. They also discussed about bringing in a Bill to Control the Use of Pesticides in Agriculture.

The novel ideas of the future parliamentarians were appreciated immensly by the Jury Members comparising of distinguished members of the society.

The school stands motivated to provide to the society and the country cultured confident citizens who will make their alma-mater stand proud.
